Scary Scary Night

the stitching is an old one. I have made it some years ago, but I didn't know what to do of it.

last Sunday I finally made this little pillow. I like it :-)

Pincushions

In this period I am stitching little patterns of my friend Cuoreditela and I am enjoying to make pincushions of them.

Here there are the ones I have finished:

The blue and the liliac one are stitched with threads dyed by Romina, the red/green thread has been dyed by Sara.

I find these little works relaxing and am enjoying using a lot of beads so that I can use some of those I have been storing since ever ;-)

A witch is flying...

This is a good period for witches, isn't it? LOL

This one is an old project that was resting in a corner. Last week I took it in my hands again, I finished it and made a little pillow.

it is now in my witches collection, among all the other "girls" that came out for the occasion from their boxes and are enjoying some fresh air before flying tonight :D

I have two other witches to be stitched. one began last Sunday... will her need 4 years to be finished as it happened to this one??? we'll see....

Finished!!! at last!

last year I had organized a SAL on this two patterns, 12 steps to stitch them all within Christmas (2012).

I wanted to do even better: my mom has her birthday on the 27th of November and I wanted it to be a birthday/Christmas present...

Well, it will be... in 2013 LOL. it took me a little more to complete the stitching work... just 9 further months more or less. :D

But I am very proud of the result! In this moment the work is out to be framed and I am looking forward the moment the worker will call me saying it is ready and I can go and fetch it ;-)

I will show you also the framed version, when it will be in my hands!!!

a smal cat

so... if someone follows my blog with a certain continuity, will probably start thinking I love cats... CORRECT!!! LOL

this is another small one I stitched in Spring but completed only last week-end:

I really like this pattern (Alice & co.) and have stitched it with a thread from Les Fils du Rhin. both pattern and thread were bought last year in Alsace, France where I went with two friends to visit a lovely embroidery fair.

Cats

Cats are like chips: you can't have only one!!

isn't it true??? surely it is in my home!! I live with three cats and a fourth has choosen to "migrate" at the ground floor because she doesn't like the two newest one... so I really have 4 cats.

I have stitched this sentence with a hand dyed thread made by Heartstitch Designs, while the cat-buttons were made by 4 cupcake addicted. they are two Italian girls with a lot of creativity that create little treasures I like so much!!!

Margaret Sherry SAL

with some friends we were planning to make a nice surprise to a common friend who has 2 twin daughters that will be soon 2 y.o.

she loves Margaret Sherry's patterns, so the choice was almost obvious

I stitched this (and have done it as part of the SAL):

and here you can see all the things we prepared for the two children:

a little Cat-work made in a summer week-end

I have stitched this on a hot summer week-end and I have realized that this cat seems so much to my cat Birba, who is a calico kitty with her three colours that seems to change position each time you watch her... so this work has gained the name of Birba:

The thread is one of Les Fils du Rhin. I really like her threads full of colors and easy to be used.

it's tea time!!!

I know, with this hot weather it isn't exactly the right moment for a cup of tea, but... I can start preparing the things for a good teatime in autumn :-D

And this autumn my teabags will rest here:

The stitching part of this box was finished at the end of May, but I finished to paint the box just yesterday in the early afternoon as I couldn't do it before.
In the evening I didn't resist and completed the box with hot glue and some lace.
I like the way it came out :-)

Good Friends Listen - finished

In June I finished a few things but didn't have time to post here...

here there's my "good friends listen" finished. I decided not to stitch the writings because I had found this nice hanging support and thought it would fit better this way:

I still have to find the final destination for it on my kitchen walls, but I am waiting to choose it as in a few weeks I will have new furniture and I want to see how the kitchen will look like before taking a decision :-)

Beware the cats

if you will ever come to visit me, you'll have to be careful, because in my home there live many cats so it is better to hang up many messages out of my door (there already are 2 or 3...).

a few weeks ago I stitched a new one:

this means "beware the cats" and the sweet button-faces make clear how terrible my cats can be, don't they?

the bottons are homemade from an Italian girl. you can see her works in her blog.

the fabric, the thread and the nice trimmings are the works of Romina, another talented Italian girl who loves to dye.

you can imagine I love violet, I think it is clear! I even had bought 2 pots of violets of the same colour of the trimmings and thread. without even thinking about it! it simply is that I am crazy fond with violet!!!! LOL

Mary Poppins SAL

I have found this fantastic Sampler on a fair a few weeks ago.
I can't resist to Mary Poppins!!!

I bought the kit containing everything but the needle, so it was ready to be stitched.

and the occasion is a SAL that has started on a Facebook group on the 1st of May.

the first step is the border to be stitched within the 15th of May.

I am singing Mary Poppins songs all the time since when I have started to stitch it LOL

next SAL

this is not the only one I am starting in these days: it is a period I am willing to start so many thing! but I must be careful, as I am probably starting new UFO's LOL

this one is a small one, so I have good chances to finish it... let's hope it!

here's what I am going to stitch with two friends of mine:
it is the creation of an Italian designer and I bought it in March in a nice cross-stitch fair.
when I saw those nice buttons and pins I couldn't resist!!! and I discovered that 3 other friends of mine didn't resist too.
one of them has already stitched it as she couldn't wait for it.
with the other two friends we decided to wait for May and stitch it together.

Yesterday I cut the fabric: a nice blue hand dyed.

and on Sunday we will start to work with our Needles. we have planned 4 steps: each one of a week, so it should be finished by the end of the month...

let's hope it... I repeat it! :D

A Chatty SAL

I am organising this SAL in my Italian crafty blog.
It is born among friends who love so much to chat together! When we saw this pattern for the very first time we thought we could be these lovely hens that are going to have tea together while they friendly chat... LOL
And this year we finally decided to make a SAL of it!
We all bought our kit and we will stitch it in 4 months: a hen for the first three months and the rest of the pattern on the last one.
Here's the subject:
Isn't it nice???? :-)
The first step is to be stitched within february... let's stitch then!

UFO, Work in progress and... SAL!!!

This year I have decided to make a SAL in my Italian language creative blog dedicated to Margaret Sherry.
The goal (mine) is to pick up 2 UFOs from my UFO's box and work on them. Hopefully I would also like to finish at least one of them!

Some friends of mine joined, each one with one or more Margaret Sherry pattern to stitch during the year with me.
My UFO's are Calendar Cats and Stitch in Time.

Calendar Cats is a kit I bought in march 2007, started to stitch it the same day it arrived in my mailbox or the next day, made 2 cats out of 12 in a few weeks and... on the third cat I stopped stitching it...
Until the 1st of January.

I have this strange cross stitch tradition I created some years ago: on the last day and on the first day of the year I have to finish a work, start a new one and make some XXX on the works I would surely like to stitch during the new year.
So I made some XXX on Calendar Cats too.

And this was the situation until yesterday:
Today during the lunch break I have started working on it once more and I am soooo happy! It isn't an easy pattern, because it is filled with blended floss, half stitches either on diagonal, vertical and orizontal, many colours, X put halway compared to the "normal ones"...
It requires a lot of attention to stitch these cats, but how lovely they are! What wonderful colours they have!
I really hope to make a lot of XXX on the fabric and it would be great to finish it!!
But there still is a long way before thinking how to frame the finished work, so... for the present I will concentrate my efforts on January cat... trying to finish it (and the above part of the writings) by the 20th of February when the first step will expire...

The second UFO is Stitch In Time. I bought it in 2009, when I was looking for some fabric for a blanket secret project I was organizing with other friends for the birth of the first baby of a common friend.
I was surfing through sewandso site lookig for the fabric when I saw these two lovely mouses and felt in love... and the kit felt in the shopping carter along with the fabric for the blanket!

I replaced the aida of the kit with a piece of that fabric because I am seriously convinced that Margaret Sherry's pattens don't deserve aida.
And I couldn't resist and started stitching it as soon as possible!
On the 1st of January I stitched a few XXX also on this one and here's the situation:
the photo is orrible, but it gives the idea of how little is the stitched part...
I plan to stitch on this pattern when I will be too tired to stitch on such a complicated work as Calendar Cats, hoping it will grow little by little a bit more than what it did in the last 3 years!!!

A little Margaret Sherry work

This time I will make a post here before telling about this in my usual Italian blog!!

I am working at a secret project with other friends and we are stitching Margaret Sherry's patterns.
Here's mine!

I loved so much stitching this pattern! Even if it gave me some troubles, as I sometimes made mistakes and had to unmake several stitches... but when it came the backstitch moment I was so happy to see my hedgehogs coming to life!!!

Finished Owls

This is the second one I have finished this year, how many this year LOL

It was a SAL I had organized in my blog in 2012: an owl to be stitched every two months and for once in my SAL-life, I finished it a few days after the dead line!! that's a record for me :)

Now I will have to wash and iron it and then I will bring it to be framed. I want to hang them in my sitting room among other owls when framed.

Socks

My very first finished work of 2013!
It is a freebie I have stitched for a friend.
The photo isn't great, but when you see them they look very nice and my friend liked them.

I hope to finish several things this year since I have a bit too many work in progress and UFOs... ahhhh
